Two men have been arrested after fireworks were thrown from a moving vehicle in Whitehaven.
The men were arrested under the Explosives Act 1987 – which prohibits the throwing of fireworks on a street or public place – after reports were received of fireworks being thrown from a moving vehicle in Bridges Retail Park yesterday evening.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “We understand this may have caused distress to members of the public and we would like to reassure you that action is being taken.
“Officers from the neighbourhood team along with the swift actions from response colleagues were able to identify, locate, stop and arrest these individuals and the vehicle involved.”
The men will remain in custody while enquiries continue.
