Carlisle United recorded a vital away win at out of sorts Salford City, with Ben Barclay heading a late winner.
Substitute Barclay got on the end of a well-placed corner from Harrison Biggins to earn the win in the 88th minute.
The Blues didn’t enjoy much possession in the first half but had the best chance when Luke Armstrong blasted over from close in.
Gabe Breeze had been preferred in goal ahead of Harry Lewis by head coach Mike Williamson and he made the best save of the first half to claw behind a strong low shot from Kylian Kouassi.
Salford also went close when Stephen Negru headed just over from a ball into the danger zone from Tyrese Fornah.
The half ended with Breze again having to be alert to keep out a long range strike from Ossama Ashley.
Carlisle were able to get more on the front foot in the second-half and went close after 77 minutes when Aaron Hayden headed Biggins’ cross into the side-netting.
Indeed the longer the game went on it was Carlisle who looked the more likely to score and so it proved when Barclay earned the Blues only their third win of the season.
