
A drive wheel failure has led to the suspension of the Windemere Ferry for at least a week.
Westmorland and Furness Council say an initial inspection yesterday revealed a fault that will require a bespoke repair before the service can resume.
Further inspections are planned to take place today, Friday November 15, and the authority said an update will be released on Monday.
There’s a warning to regular users that Mallard will be out of service until at least next Thursday.
Earlier this year the ferry underwent a major inspection.
Passengers are being asked to follow a signed diversion.
