
A Wigton pensioner has been targeted by fraudsters.
On Friday, November 22, it was reported that the elderly victim was called from someone claiming to be from her bank, informing her she was a victim of banking fraud.
The fraudsters then obtained the her bank details and persuaded her to hand over her bank card in person by visiting her home address.
They then withdrew £250 in cash and made four further attempts to use the card.
Police said they were currently conducting enquiries and an investigation was underway.
The public are reminded to be vigilant against scam phone calls from fraudsters.
Remember that your bank, other agencies and the police would:
- Never ask you for your bank account details or PIN number over the phone.
- Never ask you to withdraw money and send it to them via a courier, taxi, bank transfer or by any other means.
- Never ask you to send your bank cards or any other personal property to them via courier, taxi or by any other means.
