Barrow to start Championship game against Hunslet

Barrow will start their Championship campaign next year on February 16 at home to new boys Hunslet.

Surprise winners of the final play-off game against Swinton Lions, the Leeds side have been recruiting well for their step up to from League One.

The Raiders follow up a week later with a trip to Halifax Panthers, a club beset by financial woes at the end of last season.

In League One it’s a meeting of old pals as Whitehaven visit Swinton Lions – the side who accompanied them and Dewsbury down from the Championship in their first game on February 23.

The first home game is a fortnight later to Keighley Cougars – an interesting one for Haven’s new coach Anthony Murray as he originally looked destined for Cougar Park.

Workington Town start on February 23 at home to Cornwall and then follow up with a trip to Midlands Hurricanes.

Town will also get the chance to stage the first League One derby as they host Whitehaven on Good Friday (April 18).

The return at the Ortus Rec will be on Sunday, July 20.
