Egremont’s Cumberland Building Society will close for four weeks for a major revamp.
The society said it was investing a ‘significant’ amount into the upgrade, which will begin in the new year.
he Cumberland Building Society has announced a ‘significant investment’ to upgrade its Egremont branch. It has not revealed how much the revamp is costing.
The Main Street branch will close at 4pm on Friday January 3 and reopen at 9.30am on Monday February 3. During that time, the nearest convenient branches will be in Cleator Moor High Street and Lowther Street, Whitehaven.
The ATM cash dispenser will also be out of action during the refurbishment work but there are free alternatives outside the Star Takeaway and outside the Co-op.
The Egremont branch opening hours will remain unchanged and will continue to serve the public as usual following the refresh, the society said.
The upgrade follows the recent refurbishment of the Cumberland’s branches in Maryport and English Street, Carlisle.
Daniel Palmer, the Cumberland’s cluster manager for Workington, Whitehaven, Cleator Moor and Egremont, said: “We’re confident that our customers will love the new-look branch.
“Improving our branches is a key part of our ‘kinder banking’ purpose. We offer several channels for customers to manage their finances including online and telephone banking, but we know that many customers value the option to deal with a real person.
“That’s why it’s important for us to provide our customers in Egremont an engaging, easily accessible space with a modern look and feel.”
“This refresh will support customers and businesses that wish to interact in person with a member of our team.”
