
A Carlisle woman has been banned from city stores for five years.
Carlisle Neighbourhood Policing Team secured the Criminal Behaviour Order at North and West Magistrates’ Court or Claire Sproat, 44, of Howard Place.
She is banned from entering any premises part of the Carlisle Shopwatch or Retailers Against Crime scheme and is also banned from having an unsealed vessel containing alcohol in any public place, except inside a licensed premises.
The order follows Sproat breaching a Community Protection Notice and for a shoplifting offence.
She was given an £80 fine for the breach.
PC Andrew Beal, from Carlisle and Wigton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This order will prevent Sproat from further criminality and help protect business owners and local residents.
“I would encourage anyone who witnesses the terms of such a court order being broken to contact the police immediately.
“The punishment for breaking the terms of an order can be up to five years in prison.”
