Four cats are still missing following a suspected gas explosion in West Cumbria on New Year’s Eve.
The explosion, on Hugh Street, Bransty, Whitehaven, seriously injured three people and has left some residents homeless as their homes were devastated.
Structural engineers are due on the street tomorrow to assess the damage.
Charity Animal Concern initially made an appeal for people to look out for one missing cat, but said this afternoon it had now been made aware that four felines have not been seen since New Year’s Eve.
They are:
- Destiny – Female – Scottish Fold/Straight – black ash with faint tabby stripes.
- Fenix – Female – Scottish Fold/Straight – silver with faint tabby stripes on tail.
- Fergal – Male – dark tabby tomcat
- Fenton – Male – dark tabby face and body with white down legs
Animal Concern said they believed the cats were microchipped.
it added: “We have two other cats safe with us, and would like to reunite them with their siblings so please don’t hesitate to contact us with any information on any of the four cats described. They may be injured and/or very scared, please don’t chase.”
If you have spotted any of these cats, or have any information please message or call Animal Concern on 07712 330 829.
