The next phase of work on Cleator Main Street is set to begin on Monday.
Cumberland Council said workers will be on site for the next phase of pavement reconstruction and the work is expected to take around two weeks, subject to weather conditions.
Temporary traffic lights will be installed and a stop-and-go system will also be employed during the work.
Cumberland Council said it recognised the potential inconvenience the improvements may cause, given the importance of the A5086 as a major route.
It added “To address this, the council is actively collaborating with local stakeholders, including parish councils and local representatives, to reduce disruption wherever possible.”
