A walker in the Lake District had to be airlifted to hospital after a slip on the ice.
The 20-year-old was on the summit of Blencathra when he slipped, severely damaging his ankle, yesterday, Saturday January 25.
Unable to move and in quite severe conditions, he called for help at around 11.55am.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was scrambled and approached up a stormy and snowy Scales Fell.
North West Air Ambulance was also called and managed to land nearby.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team added: “Passers-by helped with a stretcher carry from the summit to the helicopter while the team continued to approach due to the possibility that the helicopter could not take off in the changing conditions.
“Fortunately the weather improved and in a clear spell the helicopter was able to launch to take the casualty to hospital.”
