Windscale travelled to Farringdon with high expectations following an 8-1 cup victory against the hosts earlier in the season.
Farringdon have a much changed squad since that game, however the Atoms came away with all 3 points after totally dominating play throughout the game.
Travelling with a full squad and despite pegging Farringdon in their own half for long periods, it took the Atoms until the 33rd minute to take the lead through Matty Pierce.
After some good work by Leo Brennan to win the ball in the corner. Brennan slipping the ball through to Lewis Selkirk who was denied a goal with a brilliant stop save by Farringdon custodian Jamie Rowell. Fortunately for Windscale, Pierce pounced on the loose ball to slot it home.
The lead was doubled 2 minutes later, Pierce again netting his and the Atoms 2nd goal. A shot by Lewis Selkirk was cleared off the goal line, Will Rooke picking up the pieces heading the ball back across goal and despite a scramble to clear the danger, Pierce poked the ball over the line to give Windscale a 2-goal cushion at the break.
The visitors started the 2nd half slowly allowing Farringdon to reduce the arrears in the 63rd minute.
Following the delivery from a corner kick the ball was knocked down and tapped into goal at the back post by Jason Ridley beyond Fin Stephenson, having probably his easiest game between the sticks for the Atoms.
Windscale restored their 2 goal lead 4 minutes later.
Reece Fretwell delivered a dangerous low free kick across the 6 yard box, Brennan made a good run into the area firing the ball into the back of the net.
The Atoms’ dominance providing an opportunity to freshen thing up and give match time for the players on the bench.
Tony Pilkington Andrew Begbie, Ryan Fitzwilliam and Jack Denwood all making an entrance.
It was Begbie who notched the Atoms 4th with a picture goal. After skinning one defender and leaving a second in his wake he audaciously flicked the ball into the net.
After being denied previously by the woodwork and a goal bound strike kicked off the goal line, Lewis Jolly was rewarded for his hard work throughout the match in the 2nd minute of added on time.
Will Rooke, after shrugging off a defender played in Jolly, who notched yet another in his increasing goal tally for the Atoms.
This win, which moves the Atoms into 4th place in the table, are back in League action at the Falcon Complex next Saturday when they host Brandon United, kick-off is at 2pm.
