Urgent plea after West Cumbria’s Growing Well site battered by Storm Eowyn

West Cumbria’s Growing Well site has seen some of its greenhouses ‘reduced to scrap metal’ thanks to Storm Eowyn.

The mental health charity said: “Like many other parts of the country, the Growing Well West Cumbria site in Egremont took a heavy bashing from Storm Éowyn on Friday.

“Thankfully nobody was hurt but the greenhouses have sustained significant damage and are going to need a lot of repair.

“This morning it’s been a case of all hands on deck to try and salvage what we can and clean up the debris. We are all working hard this morning to get the site safe and operational again.

“Some of the frames have been reduced to nothing more than scrap metal and there’s a lot of broken glass to clear away and eventually replace.

“Unfortunately, our insurance won’t cover this kind of storm damage so all of the repairs and replacement materials will have to come from Growing Well funds.”

The charity has appealed for help.

It said: “If you are able to help get our West Cumbria site repaired then any help would be greatly appreciated: donations to purchase replacements or donations of materials themselves, or anyone with specialist skills who could help put our greenhouses back together again.

If you can help, contact Growing Well West Cumbria on 07512 316568 or email egremont@growingwell.co.uk
