10p swims return to north and West Cumbria

10p swims are returning for youngsters in north and West Cumbria over February half term.

All children up to the age of 16 will be able to go for a swim in a choice of five indoor pools between Saturday February 15 and Sunday February 23.

It has been put in place by Cumberland Council, with the support of GLL and Wigton Baths Trust. 

The council scheme will offer discounted swimming opportunities throughout the week and some locations will also offer free sessions at weekends. 

It will be available at the following leisure sites at allocated times during the school holidays: 

  • Cockermouth Leisure Centre: 1pm-1.50pm, Monday to Friday. 
  • Copeland Pool and Fitness Centre, Whitehaven: 1pm-1.50pm, Monday February 17, Tuesday February 18, Thursday February 20 and Friday February 21. 9am-9.50am on Sunday February 16 and Sunday February 23. 
  • The Sands Centre, Carlisle: 10am-10.50am, Monday to Friday. 
  • Wigton Baths: Monday February 17, 3pm-4pm, Tuesday February 18, 3.15pm-4.15pm, Wednesday February 19, 3pm-4pm, Thursday February 20, 10am – 11am, Friday February 21, 10am-11am and Saturday February 22, 10am-11.30am. 
  • Workington Leisure Centre: 2pm-2.50pm, Monday February 17 to Friday February 21. 11am-11.50am Saturday February 22. 

The swimming initiative is funded by the Government’s through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
