Work has been continuing after a landslip on the West Coast Main Line caused significant disruption.

The landslip at Beattock, between Carstairs and Lockerbie, meant the line had to close on Friday for all trains.

Overnight on Friday, engineers carried out temporary repairs.

The line reopened yesterday, Saturday, but trains had to run at a reduced speed.

This caused short notice cancellations and delays.

Yesterday, Network Rail said its helicopter team had been out to survey the site.

They were looking for any potential faults or concerns ahead of today’s predicted heavy rainfall.

Network Rail said more work was planned for last night.
