A technical issue with some landlines in South and West Cumbria has been resolved.
Cumbria police said an issue with BT resulting in people being unable to make phone calls from landlines has now been fixed.
Engineers have worked since yesterday, Friday February 28, to restore coverage after multiple cables were damaged during construction work earlier this week.
The damage resulted in the loss of landline coverage to customers in areas including Barrow, Cleator Moor, Seascale and Windermere.
Mobile phone coverage and internet-based services were unaffected during this outage.
Those living in affected areas were encouraged to check on neighbours and vulnerable people within their community who may rely on their landline. Police would like to thank residents who did this.
