
Whitehaven won a hard fought battle against Rochdale Hornets, coming out 24-20 winners in Betfred League One, writes Lee Macaulay.
Jake Pierce opened the scoring for Whitehaven crashing over the line from close range to make it 4-0 to the home side.
In similar fashion to the first try, Luke Collins found the space close to the line to make the score 10-0.
Whitehaven scored once again unanswered as experienced Whitehaven player Connor Holliday got over the line to make the score 16-0.
Rochdale then scored two tries to make it 16-8 at the half.

Cameron Brown added 2 points for the home side as Rochdale gave the way a penalty for a ruck infringement.

Rochdale was quick to respond as they scored a try at the other end to bring the score to 18-14.

Ellison Holgate was then next to score for Whitehaven as he touched down a loose ball in the opponents try line to make the scores 24-14.
Rochdale then scored a full lengther to bring the scores to 24-20.

Rochdale were then close to stealing the game as the hooter went but their player dropped the ball in the Haven goal area to seal the win for the home side.
