The cause of dozens of wildfires in West Cumbria earlier this month is unknown, says the county’s fire service.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service said it could not confirm how many fires broke out as it was treated as a single incident. Six crews worked to extinguish the fires between St Bees and Nethertown.
Crews were called at around 3pm to the area to tackle the blaze of grass and gorse.

They left the area at around 10pm on Saturday and returned on Sunday, April 6, where they continued to dampen down hotspots.
A spokesman said there were a ‘significant number’ of fires along a two-mile stretch. At one point on Saturday, it was estimated there were 21 fires.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service said this week that it was unable to state with certainty what caused the ignition of the fires.
A spokesman added that the hot and dry conditions had led to a heightened risk of wildfires.
