The first six Senior hounds at the Dennis Reay Memorial trails held at Oulton

Sunday saw a return to Oulton in memory of late hound trailer Dennis Reay.

Thirty-eight hounds turned out over the five trails.

Up first were the Seniors with six hounds being slipped. Silver Dream was sent off as favourite.

Silver Dream for Darren and Julie McMaster and Anthony Skelton led the race ahead of Thorn Soul for Martin, Molly and Teddy Burrows and Sarah Jackson with Mel in third for Les and Graham Reid and Ellie Napier.

Once out of the wood and onto the finish Silver Dream won by 50 yards ahead of Thorn Soul who had 20 yards on Mel.

The next race to go was the Senior Maidens with a field of seven lining up at the slip. Cracking Artist was sent off as favourite.

Cracking Artist for Bill and Pat Mellon and Tina and Wak Airey was clear of Castle Callant for Marti Borrowick, Mary Irving and Amy Brookes.

Sarah Harper with Delta Fortune winner of the pups and Tracy Hill with Milo Moon winner of the Open Restricted but also dad to Delta Fortune.

Reports came in from the puppy split and it was still Cracking Artist who was leading the race.

Once they were out of the wood and onto the finish Cracking Artist won by 100 yards ahead of Castle Callant aka Harry, Lisa Whitefield’s pair of Black Edition and Audacity finished in third and fourth.

Up next were the Pups with four runners. Affirmation for Andrew Bullman, Laura Steele and Gary Woodend was leading the race ahead of Busy Rascal for Alan Blacklock and Carole Harrison, with Tucker for Nicola McMaster and Anthony Skelton in third but all three were changing places as the race continued round to the wood.

Onto the finish Busy Rascal and Tucker had developed a lead and it looked as though Tucker was going to come on and win but dropped his nose just before the line allowing Busy Rascal to claim her fourth puppy victory. Affirmation finished in third.

Delta Fortune for Sarah and Baz Harper and Hartley Robinson was 30 yards clear of the favourite Silver Star for Darren and Julie McMaster and Sadie Wilson.

Once out of the wood and onto the finish Delta Fortune and Silver Star had a great battle up the hill with Delta Fortune grabbing the win by a head ahead of Silver Star, the pair had 20 yards to spare on Tanya Satterthwaite’s Pied Piper with the consistent Denton Phantom for Lee, Hayley, George and Joey Wall, Sandra Mordue and Ted Storrows finishing in fourth place.
