Residents of a South Cumbrian old people’s home had a special visitor before Easter – a lamb.
Sandra the lamb visited the Old Vicarage at Allithwaite, near Grange-over -Sands.
Sandra is part of the Life Between the Ears menagerie, based in Grange-over- Sands and run by Jo Hales.
Jo brought Sandra along so that the residents could enjoy a form of pet therapy, with a cuddle from a very well-behaved lamb.
Jo said: “Animals take you as they find you, they love unconditionally, and it has been proven that human interaction with animals provides many benefits in all age groups. The presence of animals not only improves a person’s emotional health but also physical health.”
Alice Mudd, activities co-ordinator, said Sandra’s visit had an uplifting and emotional impact upon many of the residents.
