St John Ambulance, the nation’s leading first aid charity, is looking for people in the Barrow and Kendal areas to volunteer as youth leaders and helpers at its cadet units.
Cadets, aged 11 to 17 years old, learn vital emergency first aid skills, develop teamworking, leadership and communication skills, earn Grand Prior Awards to show their commitment, take part in volunteering opportunities in their community and undertake their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
St John Cadet units in Barrow and in Kendal are looking for new adult volunteers to support their weekly sessions.
Barrow also has a number of vacancies for new cadets to join them.
No prior first aid or volunteering experience is needed as all necessary training, such as first aid and safeguarding, will be provided.
Applicants must be aged 18 or over and will need to pass an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Volunteers get lots of development opportunities, and access to exclusive discount sites like Blue Light Card.

Successful applicants will need to give a minimum of two hours each month and will work with the charity’s young volunteers – cadets (aged 10 to 17) and Badgers (aged 5 to 11) – and guide them as they develop into the next generation of first aiders.
