A road near Carlisle is set to close for drainage improvement works for over two weeks.

Cumberland Council said work will begin on Monday June 9 at Oldwall, near Laversdale and is expected to last for 19 days, depending on weather conditions.

The work will take place around 50 metres north of Oldwall Farm and is part of the council’s continued bid to make roads safer and more reliable for everyone in the community.

It added that a full road closure will be in place for the safety of workers and the public for the entire duration of the work.

Work will take place daily from 8.00am to 4.00pm, but the road will remain closed at all times, including outside of these working hours.

A signed diversion route will be in place for the full duration of the works. Details of this route can be found on One Network.

Access will be available for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists throughout the works.

Waste and recycling collections will proceed as normal, while updates about temporary bus stop relocations will be posted at affected stops.

Cumberland Council said it wishes to thank the community for their continued support and patience while they improve the road network and apologise for any inconvenience.

For more information or to discuss concerns, residents can report online via the council website or contact the Highways Hotline at 0300 373 3736.
