500 days and counting – can you give rescue dog Roxy a home?

An appeal has been issued for a family to come forward to give Roxy her forever home after she’s spent over 500 days at a rescue centre.

Roxy was left with Animal Concern Cumbria in January 2024 – and her forever home has still not been found.

The four-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross Rottweiler has had a few home trials, but they have never quite worked out.

She’s looking for an adults only home, with no other cats or dogs.

Animal Concern Cumbria said: “Roxy is a loveable, snuggle bug that is absolutely full of beans.

“She likes to be on the go all the time, whether that be playing with toys, out exploring the world or getting all the attention from people.

“After doing testing with other dogs we found that she is dog selective when out and about, but she could be open to having some dog walking buddies after nice slow introductions.

“Roxy absolutely adores everyone she meets and is not shy about introducing herself!  As she likes all the attention for herself and jumps up (something she’s getting better at), she is looking for an adult only home as she can get jealous when she is not the one getting all the love.

“Roxy is partially crate trained and she needs to be kept busy when unsupervised or she will find her own entertainment.

“Roxy needs a secure garden as even though she is only the height of a typical Staffy, this girl has frog legs and can jump very high so the fencing will need to be a minimum of 6ft.

@animal_concern_cumbria A SAD MILESTONE 😢 This is not a milestone to be celebrated. Poor Roxy will have spent 500 days with us at ACC this week. This girl is really down on her luck. Check out this video showing how she spends a typical day with us. As much as she loves us and the adventures, she deserves to be tucked up in a bed of her own, with a family to call hers instead. Please, SHARE, SHARE and SHARE this post, Roxy needs all the exposure she can get. All interactions with this post, comments, likes, and shares help boost it so more people get to see this pretty girl. Please check out Roxy's profile below to enquire, and read her homing criteria FULLY. Unfortunately, Roxy cannot live with other dogs (although could go on social walks with calm dogs) or small children (as she can be quite boisterous and jealous). https://www.animalconcerncumbria.org/meet-our-animals/roxy/ #followers➕#adoptdontshop #rescue #rehome #animalwelfare #mindcharityuk #cumbrianlife #cumbria #westcumbria ♬ original sound – Animal Concern Cumbria

“One thing to note about this little lady is that she loves exploring new places but has to pay the price as she does have terrible car sickness, so a family who would be willing to work with her on this or just go out exploring new places on foot would be ideal.

“Roxy is a lovely girl who needs humans who can keep up with her!”
