
Four people have been arrested after an incident in Carlisle.
Police were called at around 11.10am today, Wednesday June 11, to the area of Strand Road.
They were told there was a group of people in possession of an alleged firearm within a vehicle.
Firearms officers were deployed immediately to the incident and swiftly detained four people.
Two boys aged 17, one man aged 20 and a woman aged 18 have been arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm.
They will be detained for questioning, police said.
Cumbria police added that they may see an increased police presence in the area while enquiries are being carried out and there was no wider risk to the public.
It is understood Carlisle College closed its campus for an hour as a safety precaution.
