Willie and Daphne Mark with Sportsman

Wednesday saw a return to Helton for the third time this season and 50 hounds turned out.

Up first were the Seniors with 11 going to the slip. Sportsman for Willie and Craig Mark was sent off as the favourite.

Leading the way was Sportsman ahead of Hey Mac for Gillian and Neil Brown, and Joel and Derrick Bullman, Huntsman’s Rebel for Denise and Jenny Bland, and Graham Little in third, Come Fly With Me for Duncan Chisholm in fourth and Huntsman’s Time in fifth for Denise and Jenny Bland, and Graham Little.

As they dropped down the back fell, three had developed a small advantage – Hey Mac, Sportsman and Huntsman’s Rebel. The chasing pack was being led by Huntsman’s Time ahead of Croft Lass for Stanley, Carole and Sarah Jackson, Ricky Deacon and Donald Hodgson.

As they showed onto the finish Sportsman claimed his eighth senior win of the season, his seventh win in seven runs, kennel mates Huntsman’s Rebel and Huntsman’s Time finished in second and third.

Pups had a field of eight lining up at the slip and Delta Fortune was sent off as the favourite.

The hounds were hard to spot on the back fell before they drop onto the finish but from what could be made out, three had established a lead on the chasing pack.

As they showed onto the finish Delta Fortune came on well to claim his 14th puppy win of the season and sixth win in six runs.
