A section of the A595 is set to close for workers to address a previous resurfacing issue.
Cumberland Council will be carrying out remedial carriageway resurfacing works on the A595 in Whicham Valley, starting on Monday 7 July.
The council said the work will address defects from previous resurfacing and will be completed at the contractor’s expense, with no additional cost to the council or local taxpayers.
The work is expected to continue for up to two weeks, subject to weather and site conditions.
A full road closure will be in place for five days from Monday to Friday between 7.00am and 7.00pm.
Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists throughout the works.
Waste and recycling collections will continue as usual and updates about temporary bus stop relocations will be posted at affected stops.
The council said vehicle access for residents and businesses will be maintained where safe and practical, but added there may be periods during specific operations when access is temporarily restricted.
Residents and businesses with specific access requirements are asked to speak directly with the contractors on site.
