Workington Speedway have been awarded another top meeting for their Northside track.
The GT Tyres Arena will host a major day of British Youth Speedway on Sunday September 28, featuring the British Under-19 Final and the final rounds of the British Youth Championship for the 250cc and 125cc classes.
This prestigious event marks a significant milestone in the development of the Northside facility, which has been brought up to FIM standards through years of hard work and the Comts are honoured to be hosting such an event.
British Youth boss Neil Vatcher praised the selection and said it was only a matter of time before Northside was chosen to host such an occasion.
He said: “The whole of British Speedway knows the work that has gone on at Northside track over the last four or five years to bring the stadium up to FIM standards.
“I am sure that this British Final will be the first of many prestige meetings to be held there.”
Reigning Under-19 Champion and former Comet Ace Pijper will defend his title against top talents such as fellow former Comet Luke Harrison, current Comet Vinnie Foord, William Cairns, and Cooper Rushen, with racing set to begin at 1pm.
The Youth Championship rounds promise even more action, as the sport’s rising stars battle it out in the season finale.
A Comets spokesman said: “We thank the Young Lions and British Speedway for their trust in Workington and invite all fans to join us for an exciting and important day celebrating the future of British Speedway – with admission prices to be announced in due course.”
