The Cumberland Cup dominated the CARL programme with the ties providing four of the quarter finalists.
Tightest game, as expected, was at Highfield where Cockermouth Titans just held off Egremont A in a 28-24 victory.
Both teams scored five tries and in the end it was down to the four goals kicked by Regan Tinnion against two from Kaidon Block for Egremont.
The Cockermouth tries were scored by Ryan Scott, Dan Woodcock, Sam Wilson, Lewis Shield and Jordan Herve.
In reply Egremont crossed the home line through Nathan Preston (2), Cian Sharpe, Jordan Baird and Henry Ogilvie.
Division One leaders Maryport knew they would be asked questions by Distington A so were pleased to get through to the last eight with a 30-14 victory.
Distington had taken a 6-0 lead but by half-time Maryport had edged ahead 12-10.
Full-back Liam Anderson, who was given man of match by Distington, scored a try and kicked five goals.
The other Maryport tries came from referee’s man of the match, centre Joel Baker (2); winger Attlee Skillen and second row Sean Mumberson.
Distington scored tries through Kyle Jenkinson, Deaton Askew and Ethan Black.
Brandon Walker converted one while Robbie Jo Worthington was their man of the match.
Maryport coach Mark Foster said: “Credit to Distington A who put up a good show in a physical game which boiled over a couple of times.
“We toughed it out and got through to the next round which is the main thing in a cup tie.”
The other two ties were more one-sided, particularly at Glasson where the young Rangers were thumped 80-16 by Flimby.
The villagers, who have improved steadily in their second season back in competitive rugby, scored 14 tries, all but two converted by Dan Weir.
Claiming the touchdowns were Nathan Kirkbride (3), Blake Miller (2), Carl Grima (2), Rhys Booty (2), Kevin Hoban (2), Ryan Williams, Karl Hine and Weir.
The Glasson tries were scored by Ryan Morris, Conor Wilson, Tyler Beales and Ben Humm.
Division One title chasers Seaton Rangers got through 54-4 against Aspatria.
The Seaton tries were scored by Conor McCrickard (4), Jaiden Tallantire, Jon Carl Bryan, Byron Coulson, Jordan O’Leary and Ciaran Walker, who kicked nine goals.
The Aspatria try was scored by Frazer Williamson.
The quarter final draw reads – Hensingham A v Flimby; Cockermouth v Seaton; Kells A v Wath Brow A; Maryport v Lowca.
