When Paul Lyons and his wife began visiting Cumbria from Hull, it was to enjoy the sights of the county while staying under canvas in what he admits were sometimes bracing conditions!
Decades later, and now enjoying retirement from the product buying industry, Paul’s love of being up and about early in the morning to capture the kind of images many of us dream of continues.
“It is the best time of the day – when there’s still mist on the lake or cloud on the fells, getting out among it to see what pictures I can take,” Paul told Cumbria Crack.
However, the vagaries of the weather means there are sometimes early morning trips that may not pay off as he hoped.

He added: “Getting up at 4am to capture the light has been rewarding although there’s never a guarantee. Sometimes I’ve got up early for nothing!”

With his Nikon D850 SLR keen amateur Paul has managed to tour the Lakes and says there is no one area that is his favourite.
“We’ve walked all the Wainwrights and just love Cumbria,” he confessed.

His awesome pictures may well help spread that love to a whole new audience.
