A number of cows made a break for it this morning from a West Cumbrian field onto nearby road.
Copeland police were called to help moo-ve the animals, who had escaped from a field in Whitehaven, near Copeland Athletics Stadium, today, Sunday September 14.
Copeland police said: “Officers were called out to reports of a number of cows on a road in Whitehaven, despite initially giving us the run around we eventually managed to expertly herd them into the enclosed area of the athletic stadium and safely off the road, to await the farmer coming to collect them.
“No two jobs are ever the same in policing and thank you to the member of public who reported this to us, the cows posed a genuine hazard to road users and thankfully no accidents occurred as a result of the cows’ early morning adventure!”
