
Drivers are urged to take care in Cumbria this morning as roads are beginning to flood.
A weather warning was in place for the county until 11am today.
Several flood alerts and flood warnings have been issued.
Reports are coming in from Cumbria Crack readers in West Cumbria and the Lake District of areas affected and roads that are flooded
Cumbria police urged people to drive with care and to the road conditions, allowing extra time for your journey and staying alert for surface water and potential flooding in low-lying areas.
People are also being urged to not drive through floor water and to take alternative routes.

What we know so far

Cumberland Council has issued an update about roads in north and West Cumbria.
Closed roads/bridges
- A5086 between Cockermouth and Egremont. Diversion is via the A66 and A595.
- A6071 Irthing Bridge, closed due to river bursting its banks.
Cumbria Crack is getting reports that people are being turned away from Holmrook bridge due to flooding.
The following roads are not officially closed but drivers are advised they are impassable:

- Longtown Road, Brampton
- Houghton opposite village green
- Kingmoor Road railway bridge, Carlisle
- Scotby railway bridge
- Glebe Close, Dalston
- Hayton Lane End
- B6318 Gilsland/Spadeadam road
- Talkin to Farlam road
- Great Orton village
