A section of the A593 will be closed this week for emergency repair work on a damaged culvert.
The culvert, near Ellers Brow, Skelwith Bridge, was damaged during the recent heavy rain and needs repairs which require the road to be closed.
An emergency closure will come into effect at 9am today, Monday, November 10, and last until 4pm on Wednesday, November 12.
A signed diversion route is in place via the A593, A5084, A5092, A590 and A592.
A spokesman for Westmorland and Furness Council said: “We recognise the inconvenience this unforeseen road closure will cause.
“The recent heavy rain has caused an issue at this location and we have moved quickly to sort it out.
“Unfortunately, it is necessary to close the road and we appreciate the patience and understanding of the local community, businesses and road users while we make these repairs.”
