A Cumbrian wildlife group for youngsters is looking for adult volunteers.

Barrow Badgers Wildlife Watch Group is a club for children who are interested in getting out and about and learning about nature.

Aimed at six to 12-year-olds, it was set up in 2023 by Cumbria Wildlife Trust.

Its main volunteer moved away earlier this year, leaving the group looking for people to fill the gap.

Ruth Alcroft, volunteer co-ordinator at Cumbria Wildlife Trust, said: “It’s a joy to be involved with this group. The members are really keen and love exploring the outdoors.

“There’s enthusiasm from parents and carers, and support from the local council.  We just need some more willing volunteers to make it work!”

As well as making use of Barrow Park, the group has visited local nature reserves and to the coast to investigate local wildlife.

Volunteers should enjoy working with children and be passionate about nature but don’t need to be experts.
