A fly-tipper has been fined £1,000 after council workers traced them to their address.
In October, several bags of mixed household waste were dumped in hedgerows in a layby on the A6071 near Newtown, north of Carlisle.
Cumberland Council’s team traced an individual connected to the rubbish to an address in the city.
The authority said: “Following an interview, one individual admitted responsibility and was issued a £1,000 fixed penalty notice, which has now been paid.”
