Workington Reds boss Billy Barr missed out on two possible recruits this week – but hasn’t given up on them.
Barr was left doubling his efforts for new blood after striker Daniel Ogwuru was recalled by National League Morecambe, cutting his loan short.
Today Barr told Cumbria Crack: “I missed out on a couple during the week.
“Don’t want to mention names because it’s something that I may be able to pick back up on again.
“One has a club and one is without so we will see what happens over the next week or so.”
The usual deadline for NPL signings is the last Thursday in March which would make it March 26.
Barr has been preparing his side for the visit of Rushall Olympic tomorrow, seeking to extend the unbeaten run to five games and stretch the winning sequence at Borough Park to three.
The departing Ogwuru and the suspended Charlie Barnes should be the only absentees from the squad which beat Morpeth Town 1-0 last week.
Steven Swinglehurst, Josh Galloway and Josh Palmer all had 90 minutes in the mid-week win by the Under-23s and are likely to figure tomorrow.
Borough Park will hopefully have improved after last week’s game left it in a dreadful state, so much so that Barr said he hopes his side don’t have to play on a surface like that again.
There has been a lot of rain this week, which won’t have helped, but no rain is forecast today or tomorrow and although likely to be the subject of an inspection ahead of Rushall making their long trek, the fixture will hopefully go ahead.
After last night’s second session of the week Barr said: “Training went well and the lads were really good in the possession work we did.
“We also did some work on Rushall’s shape and how we can hopefully exploit it.”
Rushall are 15th in the NPL Premier Division table, nine points better off than the Reds from the same number of games. They were last in action on Saturday when they drew 0-0 at Cleethorpes.
