The newly created Workington Reds CIC has secured £19,380 in funding from The National Lottery to provide free football coaching for the West Cumbrian community.

Delivery will begin after the Easter holidays at the indoor SoccerHub facility in Workington and will offer inclusive, accessible football opportunities for all.

Community lead Brian Dawson said “We are delighted and extremely grateful for this funding, which will allow us to provide more opportunities for people to participate in football within our community.”

The launch of Workington Reds Community Interest Company, the official charity arm of the official Workington AFC, was only confirmed last month.

Dawson added: “With our new Community Interest Company status, we can now access funding to create more inclusive opportunities in sport and support better health and well-being for children and adults across West Cumbria.

“We’re excited about the positive impact this will have on our local community.”

Additional information about the sessions will be announced in the coming days.
