A West Cumbrian coffee roastery will throw open its doors to the community and give away free gifts to celebrate turning 10.

Shiloh Coffee Roasters was launched in April 2016 by former Cockermouth School pupil Mark Armstrong and his wife Jean.

Initially based in Leeds, the ethical specialty coffee business relocated to Whitehaven’s Haig Enterprise Park in 2023.

To thank the customers in the local area and beyond whose support has helped the business grow over the last decade, Mark and Jean have planned some birthday celebrations.

During April, anyone visiting the roastery will be invited to take a turn on a spin-and-win wheel, with bags of coffee up for grabs for those landing on a star, and chocolate treats for anyone who doesn’t.

On Saturday, May 2, the roastery will host an open day where visitors can find out more about the stories behind its coffees and how they are roasted, as well as enjoying a celebratory cuppa and cake.

And, to make sure customers further afield don’t miss out, for five months from April, Shiloh will give five customers a month their coffee for free.

Winners will be drawn at random at the end of each month from all those who have bought via the website or on subscription.

Mark said: “We’re thrilled to have reached Shiloh’s 10th birthday and we know we couldn’t have achieved any of what we have without the support of every single customer who has bought our coffee in that time.

“We’re passionate about providing great-tasting, ethically-sourced coffee and we love nothing better than seeing our customers enjoy it too.

“We also love introducing new people to great coffee so even if you’ve never drunk our coffee – or any coffee – before, if you’re in the area we’d love you to call in and have a spin of the wheel. Who knows, you might win a bag of your next favourite cuppa?”

Shiloh’s open day will take place on May 2 from 10am to 1pm.
