
Aspatria Hornets produced another outstanding performance to continue their unbeaten run in the Cumbria Men’s League Division One.
They beat visitors Hensingham A 54-22 after a strong first half display put them 36-16 ahead.
The visitors had actually gone in front after justy five minutes before the Hornets replied seven minutes later when James Robinson powered over.
Prop Scott Donald scored two tries while man of the match Flynn Manihera, playing his first competitive game of senior rugby league also scored two.
Mark Irwin also crossed.
Hensingham actually scored twice more in the first-half and were first to go over after the break but Aspatria pulled clear with tries from Ellis Holliday (2) and Ben Tootill.
Holliday’s second followed some excellent interplay from hooker Frazer Williamson, Manihera and finally Holliday.
Tootill kicked eight out of eight goals, much to the delight of his parents who were visiting from Wigan. Manihera landed the other.
Hensingham’s tries came from Ben McPherson, Ryan Corlett, Nathan Frankland and Miller Wood with Dane Richardson kicking three goals.
The two other scheduled First Division games were recorded as walkovers after Millom A conceded at Maryport A and Egremont A did likewise for their trip to Dalton A.
In the Premier Division Lowca had a big 58-4 home win over Cockermouth Titans scoring 11 tries in the process.
Jordan Allen (2), Emerson Allen (2), Tom Spires (2), Greg Smith, Oliver Scott, Xander Callander and Evan Hodgson scored the tries with Hodgson kicking seven goals.
John Beck scored the Titans’ try.
Askam also had a good win, beating Wath Brow A 44-18 with tries from Eddie Goodson (2), Dale Lambton (2), Josh Bayliss, Tom Hopkins, Morgan Cubbin and Tom Wilkinson, who added six goals.
