Cars have ended up in a care home garden after a multiple vehicle ‘shunt’ in Wigton.
Cumbria police said officers were called at 10.48am to the collision, which involved multiple cars and one pedestrian at a car park near Loveday Care Home.
It is understood that the cars have ‘shunted’ into one another, pushing two cars through a fence and bushes into the care home’s garden.
Around seven vehicles are believed to be damaged and involved.
Police said is is currently believed that there are no serious injuries – but officers and emergency services remain at the scene.
It is not known if all cars were stationary or parked or if they had occupants at the time.
Gaynor Davies, who is a resident at the care home, said a few residents had been out in the garden 10 to 15 minutes prior to the incident.
She added: “It was around quarter to 11 that we heard this almighty bang from then garden which backs onto the car park to the local doctor’s surgery.
“Two vehicles were shunted some way right across our lawn, virtually stacked in our garden and about a foot and a half away from our patio doors that lead into our lovely big lounge and dining room.
“About 10 minutes before the incident, some of our residents were outside having coffee and watering the plants. In the picture, you can just see the wooden seats to the right where they were having their coffee.
“We all had to vacate the dining room and lounge room just in case the cars were to roll back. Nobody here was injured, but we’ve heard someone has gone to hospital.
“It’s done an awful lot of damage, we had a beautiful fountain and some bird feeders and planters that are all smashed. It’s all heart-breaking really.”
Gaynor praised staff and deputy manager Katie at the home for looking after residents amid the incident.
It is understood that cars have now been recovered from the care home’s garden.
