Holker Old Boys lost their final warm-up game yesterday, but it was an encouraging performance against a team at a higher level.
It ended 1-0 to Charnock Richard who are in the Premier Division of the North West Counties where they finished mid-table (13th) last season.
The only goal of the game late on from Liam Paton which gave Charnock Richard the victory as they prepare to host Chadderton in the first league game of the season on Saturday.
Chadderton finished fifth in the table last season.
Joint manager Dave Round was pleased with his side’s performance and felt they deserved at least a draw.
