A Stagecoach bus caught fire in a West Cumbrian car park this morning.
Sellafield Fire and Rescue Service alongside other teams were called out at around 7.30am this morning to the fire in Yottenfews car park.
Crews from Bootle, Seascale and Whitehaven also attended.
Sellafield’s teams managed to bring the fire under control and attending crews supplied the teams with more water.
The fire was eventually extinguished at around 8am.
It was extinguished using one hose reel jet and the damage was confined to a single-deck bus.
There were no reported injuries or further risk to the public.
The cause of the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
A Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire spokesman said: “We can confirm that a bus was involved in an incident this morning in the Yottenfews car park near Sellafield.
“The vehicle was out of service at the time and no passengers were on board.
“Our engineering team is carrying out an internal investigation to establish the cause, and we are liaising closely with the relevant authorities. We would like to thank the emergency services for their prompt response.”
