Man, 21, seriously injured in Carlisle attack

[P]OLICE investigating an assault at the taxi rank on Court Square near to Carlisle railway station in the early hours of Monday 17 April 2017 are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A 21 -year-old man was assaulted and taken to the Cumberland Infirmary. He has since been discharged having suffered a fractured eye socket and other serious facial injuries.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

The assault is alleged to have taken place some time between 3.40am and 3.55am.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault to get in touch. The area was busy with people at the time and it is likely that this incident will have been witnessed by a number of people.
