[A]t 3:33pm today, Monday 24 April emergency serives were called to a road traffic collision on the M6 south between junctions 44 and 43.
The incident involved a heavy goods vehicle which had left the motorway and was on its side down an embankment.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “One man was trapped and needed the help of the crew to get out.
“Specialist tools were used to remove the windscreen and get the man out and the crew used a first aid kit on the casualty.”
