[T]he family of John Baxter, 70, who died in a collision at Bank End, on Saturday (May 6th) have paid tribute to his life.
A spokesman for John’s family said: “John was a much loved husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
“A well known and popular character in the Duddon Valley.
“He first visited the Lakes as a twelve year old choirboy and at the age of 70 was still climbing the fells and cycling the valleys.
“A lifelong Morris dancer and folk singer and a very proud left handed engineer. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
“The family would like to thank Cumbria Police, air ambulance and all those kind people who stopped to offer assistance.”
The one-vehicle collision occurred at around 5.14pm, at Bank End, on the road from Duddon Bridge to Ulpha.
Any witnesses are asked to contact Cumbria Police on 101.
