RATHBONES_009[R]athbones Investment Management is once again running a unique work experience programme for sixth-form students in the region. Staff members from the firm’s Kendal office will be donating their time and expertise to guide budding young investors through its week-long Summer work placement programme.

The national wealth management company will be guaranteeing a place on the programme for at least eight pupils from schools throughout Cumbria, North Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Lancashire and will provide participants with unparalleled first-hand experience within the financial industry.

The programme has been carefully designed to provide a thorough work experience opportunity to secondary school pupils considering a career in finance. Participants on the programme will be offered a realistic week-in-the-life-of a Rathbones team member and will be granted the chance to witness financial markets and economics in action, shadow Rathbones’ experienced employees, attend company meetings and actively participate in ongoing research projects.

Stephen Quick, Investment Manager at Rathbones Kendal said: “Our Summer placement programme is a fantastic opportunity to really get a feel for what it’s like to work in the financial industry.

“Graduate positions in finance are extremely competitive and opportunities like this are rare in the North. We felt that it was important to give young people in the area the chance to gain some valuable in-industry experience and to help them on the road to a career in finance. Last year’s programme was a success, with all participants taking something positive from it, so it was only natural to run it again this Summer.”

The programme runs from Monday 24th to Friday 28th July at Rathbones Levens Hall office.

Those wishing to apply should send their CV alongside a covering letter explaining why they would like to participate by the 30th June to [email protected] with their school name and ‘2017 work placement’ in the subject line.

Established in 1742, Rathbone Brothers PLC is one of the UK’s largest and longest established wealth management firms. Rathbones is well known for offering its clients high quality wealth management services while still retaining a truly local feel.
