[P]eople in Brampton can pop along to their local Farmers’ Market on Saturday 24th June to grab a household freebie and give away unwanted items.
It’s like a jumble sale but free!
The Give and Take day will take place alongside Brampton Farmers’ Market in the market square by the Moot Hall between 10am and 1pm. Anyone can come along and pick up any item for free. It’s also an opportunity for householders to give away items they no longer need. You don’t even need to bring something to donate in order to pick up a freebie.
Cumbria County Council’s waste prevention team is working with Sustainable Brampton to bring this event to the Carlisle area after holding a number of these very popular events in other areas of the county.
Judith Bradshaw, a waste prevention Officer at Cumbria County Council, said: “These events are a great way to save loads of useful items ending up as waste needing treatment by the council, what one person doesn’t need anymore can be just what someone else is looking for.’
Heather Tipler of Sustainable Brampton said: “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure – what a great idea Give and Take is! We are really looking forward to holding this event which, hopefully, will be the first of many in Brampton. We are looking for volunteers to help on the day so please get in touch if you can give us an hour or two.”
Any leftover items will be donated to the charity shops in Brampton to sell.
