[A] major milestone in the development of Eden and South Lakeland Credit Union has been reached with the announcement last week of the appointment of Avril Ball as credit union General Manager with responsibilities for the provision of services to members in Penrith, Kendal and Alston.

Avril relocated to Cumbria in 2009. Prior this appointment Avril was employed as Finance Officer at Newton Rigg College. Avril is also actively involved in 2 local charities.

On taking up her new position on 1st August Avril commented: “Having lived and worked in the Penrith area for the last 7 years I am looking forward to working with the volunteers and members of the credit union.”

Commenting on the appointment of the new General Manager, Adrian Rush, credit union chair, commented: “I am delighted that Eden & South Lakeland Credit Union has been able to create the first of a small number of paid roles which will complement the excellent support we receive from our volunteer colleagues. Avril has a wealth of experience of working in finance and with people, and is now another friendly face ready to greet new and existing members as they visit one of our three offices.”
