24 Hours in Farming is off to a great start this morning with #Farm24 already trending at number one on Twitter in the UK.
Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat also have high volumes of farming activity as the nation’s farmers take to social media for a full 24 hours to showcase what they do.
Organised by farming magazine Farmers Guardian and supported by Morrisons, the aim of the event is to give consumers an insight into how much effort goes into producing the food they eat and maintaining the British countryside.
Anyone involved in the industry is invited to take part, simply by posting, sharing photos and/or videos about the work they are doing and consumers can follow all the posts by simply searching #Farm24 in their social media feeds.
In addition, our sponsor Morrisons will be hosting hundreds of farmers at its stores between 2-4pm today. They will be talking to consumers about farming and answering their questions.
More than 100 stores are taking part and children who visit the stores will be given goody bags containing produce samples, farming facts and copies of a special Junior Edition of Farmers Guardian.
Editor of Farmers Guardian Ben Briggs says: “Last year 24 Hours in Farming had an audience reach of 122 million, we hope this year’s campaign will be even better and early predictions seem to suggest it will be.”
