[P]lanning consent for up to 60 dwellings was given the green light by Eden’s Planning Committee on Thursday after Prospus Consulting secured a unanimous vote by members of the Committee to approve the development in Kirkby Stephen.
Tom Woof, Director of Planning at Prospus said; “This proposal was discussed by the local parish council three times who decided to support the development. It was also subject to some local opposition by people who were worried they would be affected by the proposal, however we were able to demonstrate that no one would be adversely affected.
“We were also able to show the Committee what Phase 1 of the project will look like with the computer-generated images produced by Prospus Architecture. This was very important because it visualises how Phase 2 will not break the skyline, therefore causing no adverse impact to the landscape. A key focus during the design process will be to protect the mature trees that are on the site, provide excellent flood prevention measures, protect the public footpath, and provide amenity land.”
Local development company White House Developments will begin work on Phase 1 soon with the first units expected to be available in the middle of 2018. Developments such as this are a vital part of the Council’s goal of delivering housing to meet the local and national need.
Alistair Fell, Director at Prospus Group, commented that “This is the latest win for our planning team in what has so far been a very positive 2017. We are working on a growing number of exciting housing schemes across the county and our ability to utilise our in-house architecture team to produce visualisations of what developments will look like is an added bonus for landowners and developers.”
