FREE HSBC UK British Cycling Guided Bike Rides in Eden 2017

HSBC UK Guided Rides are taking place in Eden District

[L]ooking for a reason to get your bike out of the shed in the months ahead? Why not try a FREE HSBC UK Guided Ride in Eden District with British Cycling.

Six guided rides are taking place at different locations across Eden District between the end of August and middle of November 2017.

Caroline Gilbert, British Cycling’s Partnership Manager for Cumbria and Lancashire said: Cumbria: “This brand new programme of free bike rides is coming to Eden District to help people build up their confidence, meet new people and discover the local area by bike.

“HSBC UK Guided Rides are led by British Cycling trained ride leaders along carefully selected routes, and vary in difficulty from Easygoing pootles around the park to Challenging slogs over the hills.”

Eden District Council’s Leisure Officer, Ian Parker, said: “We have rides available for all ages and abilities in the coming months. Cycling is a very popular way to exercise for all the family and what a better backdrop for your ride than Eden’s stunning landscape. The HSBC UK FREE Guided Rides are a great way to socialise as you exercise and have proved to be very popular with those taking part.”

The HSBC UK FREE British Cycling Guided Bike Rides taking places in Eden District are:

  • Sunday 27 Aug, 2pm          Pooley Bridge Potter*                                     8 miles
  • Sunday 10 Sept, 10am       Kirkby Stephen – Castles and Viaducts       24 miles
  • Tuesday 26 Sept, 10am      Greystoke to Mosedale Loop                       17 miles
  • Sunday 8 Oct, 10am          Haweswater – Hidden Lake District Valley  *16 miles
  • Wed 8 Nov, 10am                Eycott Hill Nature Reserve by Bike                8 miles
  • Sunday 19 Nov, 10am        Kirkby Stephen – Castles and Viaducts       24 miles

*With the Lake District having gained UNESCO World Heritage Status this year participants will be joined on some rides (marked *) by a guide from the Lake District National Park Authority to tell you more about the World Heritage Site. HSBC UK Guided Rides are taking place in Cumbria thanks to a partnership between British Cycling, Cumbria County Council, Active Cumbria, the Lake District National Park Authority, South Lakeland District Council, Eden District Council, Allerdale Council, Carlisle City Council and the National Trust.
