Richard Rose Sixth Form celebrates A Level results

[S]tudents at the Ofsted rated Good Richard Rose Sixth Form are celebrating today after receiving their A Level results.

Alongside some notable individual successes, the Sixth Form saw an increase in the proportion of the top grades with a third of results awarded A*-B.

Particular student success stories include:

  • Carl Graham
  • Sarah Osborne
  • Lucy Dalgliesh
  • Emma Hetherington
  • Caleb Cartner
  • Daniel Clark
  • Natalie Hill
  • Georgina Harrow

Amongst those taking up places at University, Ben Carrick will be going to study Maths at Newcastle University, Carl Graham will be studying Computer Science with Games Development at Northumbria University; and Natalie Hill and Sarah Osborne will be going to study Applied Psychology at the University of Cumbria.

Ben Carrick from Harraby, Carlisle (aged 18) said: “I am really pleased with my results. I have really enjoyed the last two years at Richard Rose Sixth Form. Central Academy has changed so much in the time I have been here and I would like to thank the teachers for all the support they have given me. I am really excited about going to Newcastle University to study Maths in September.”

Ben achieved:

A A Level Biology

A* A Level Law

A* A Level Maths

Stephen Gilby, Principal of Central Academy, which hosts Richard Rose Sixth Form said: “I’d like to congratulate each of our students on their hard work and for these well-deserved results which will open the doors to universities, professions and their chosen careers. There have been some notable individual successes which are testament to everyone’s hard work and determination to succeed.

“This is now a thriving, successful sixth form that has recently been recognised as Good by Ofsted. Much of this is down to the professionalism, encouragement and support shown by our staff and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of them for the significant contribution they make to our students’ success.”
